THORNTON HALL GARDENS - Wednesday 10th July - by car

Picture Photo by: www.thorntonhallgardens.co.uk/ CC BY
Thornton Hall Gardens - We will meet for coffee and a scone nearby, and then proceed by car to Thornton Hall Gardens.

Thornton Hall was built around 1550 and acquired by Mike and Sue Manners in 1989, when the gardens consisted solely of walled paddocks. Since then, Sue Manners has tirelessly developed these into perhaps the most beautiful English cottage gardens in the North-East. The borders consist of great washes of colour, containing amongst others roses, clematis, delphiniums, hostas and heucheras. In addition, an ornamental pond, benches, seats and statues have been added, and the gardens are in a continual state of change and improvement.

Light lunches and teas will be available.

Cost: £12.50 (£14.50) to include coffee and scone plus entrance
