Outings
Tuesday 25 April 2017 - Ripon Workhouse Museum and Markenfield Hall (Coach)

A visit of contrasts. In the morning, visit an original Victorian workhouse - one of only three surviving in the country. After a welcome coffee/tea and biscuits, discover how life was for the Victorian poor and the grim atmosphere of the workhouse.
After the visit, there will be an opportunity to seek out lunch in one of the many eateries in Ripon. Suggestions will be provided.

In the afternoon, go further back in time and explore a hidden medieval house still occupied and used as a family home. Markenfield Hall is an early 14th century moated country house three miles south of Ripon, privately positioned down a mile long winding track. We will take a guided tour followed by an opportunity to visit the gardens.
Cost: £32.50 (£34.50) - to include coach travel, entry to workhouse with guided tour, coffee/tea and biscuits, entry to Markenfield Hall with guided tour and tea with cake.
Deposit: £10 (£12)
Leader: John Woods

Please note: lunch is not provided on this outing.
Coach times and details will be sent to participating applicants.
